Hi, I'm purchasing one of these, I have a ring with a separate twisted shackle that doesn't always work as I wish.

The Aussi ring is another option but it's not available right now and I don't like to wait.
Questions:
- Does it work better than what I have?
- How should I tie it to the halyard? A stopper knot pointing towards the mast slot, as with my current setup? The free half of the ring towards the hook side, right?
Thanks

I use that exact ring
I tie the knot facing aft (or it interferes with the hook and will NOT secure) - i have heard others do it the opposite way

I also just ordered one of these and they told me to tie a figure 8 that will sit against the mast. Supposedly this will help the angle when it hits the hook.
