Last sail of 2021
Here is my new tow vehicle. I put a hitch on it last month.
We went to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin today. Water temperature about 50F, air temperature 52-54F. We have 3mm wetsuits.
Looks like it is going to be too cold to sail until spring. I think this was our last outing.

Bryan:
Is Lake Geneva one of your regular haunts? If so, perhaps we can get together there next year. We've been totally shut out of the US for the last two seasons, but the border's reopening now and I'm going to have a jones to hit our Montana spots. Be fun to range out a little further, as Lake Geneva is only an hour from an old pal's place in Cottage Grove.
Lake Geneva is becoming a regular spot. We have been twice. It's very crowded during the summer season but we are going to give it a try. One of my coworkers keeps his big monohull on lake Petenwell and that looks like a must try lake. It's about 3 hours north of me.
Also, here is the video - I know it's in the anti-pitch pole hydroplane thread too.

You win on temp.... But I got to jump out on the water December 27th in Texas. Short video https://youtu.be/8XSiAV-zfg8 . Ended up sailing 4 days that week.

Here's mine - Think it was high 70's, with same temp water, about. A nice tool around the bay down to Pier 6, pull in for some lobster tacos and a beer, then back out around Redfish Island with my daughter and her fiance'. His first time on a cat, and the winds did not disappoint. Mostly flying a hull and got a few screams out of them! Love it... Sadly, she's now stripped down for the winter re-fit. The boat, that is.

Ha. Great place to stop. Next time, let's get a few together for a sail and cocktails...

+1
Christmas was great weather in the bay and we only held off on going out due to my daggerboard rehab project. Your post makes me jealous that I should have gone out!
Hopefully you all make the SSC mid-winter!
Scott - I was actually wanting to do just that, however needed to spend some dedicated time with the soon-to-be new member of the family. Good kid - I mean, he's good to my daughter, tolerates me well and looks like he REALLY likes beachcat sailing.
The first one's free...
So, Yup! We need to do this bay sailing/restaurant/bar hopping thing this spring now that I get that it's possible. Almost sounds like a poker run in Galveston Bay... If there was enough wind and time to do it. Now, I have to make a new tramp, bag some rudders and get a new main sail. 🙁
