NO THANK YOU!!!!

Unless your head is under an icebreaker you aren't likely to go through. That ice is probably a couple of feet thick.
I did some iceboating in my youth and it is quite a rush. The biggest dangers are cracks and pressure ridges especially in overcast conditions (when it warms up above 20 below). The cracks generally just break stuff and can cause you to capsize (which isn't as painful as you would think).
Pressure ridges are a different story. They can literally kill you. If you hit them from the high side you can drop anywhere from 2 to 10 feet. Hitting them from the lowside is like driving a cardboard box into a concrete wall at 60 mph.

I am sure it is... so is jumping out a plane with no parachute! π

Don't know what any of that means... will never have to find out! π

Helmets are required... I haven't pitched or fliped it, just gettin the feel of it... Ya gotta go out weather permitting.... like not to much snow, The ice is thick enough now, but always a chance for pressure/crack ridges. Most of us know the ice pretty good, it's when you go to a new place~~ I haven't as yet, it would be a road trip & overnite or weekend thing..... Hey Rich do ya still have yours??? where do ya live???

How can this not be fun? You can fly a hull too.
Second half of video is the skeeters.

They are fun. I didn't fly mine as yet, the winds that day were about 5-8ish, maybe 10. The DN'S can do 20-60+MPH. The bigger class boats can do up to 100+ MPH, and my "sport drink" is dark beer.... Lets see if I can get a pict of my boat in here???

Great sport. i have been iceboating for about 10 years. all the frustration of sailing on the water are gone. You can sail almost straight up wind and jibing you can pull some g's. The DN's are a great inexpensive way to spend the colder months and they go about 65mph. The only problem is you first time out you tend to smile and your teeth freeze. The sport drink of choice is a heavy lager.

I enjoyed it very much..... Time for soft water sailin now, and a GOOD lager beer any time of the year~~ Irish stout works just fine !!!! π
hey bigwaves... where do ya sail out of??? (do yer profile page-if ya want to)
