Hi Everyone,
I know I have asked similar questions before but some recent events I have read about here have made me start thinking of this again. If I need a replacement mast or hull and find one used how the heck could I get it shipped to me for a reasonable cost?

I know if you personally know an semi owner operator you can sometimes wheel and deal the transport especially if it is a light item that takes small space in a trailor (like a mast). But I don't have that type of relationship with one. Also the services that people use where they pay someone who is travelling to carry thier package wont work for me, just because almost no one comes to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (at least not on purpose).

I also have been looking at used boats in Alberta and Quebec, where the sport is much more popular but transport is daunting. Calgary to Winnipeg can be done in 2 days with 12 redbulls but Quebec to Winnipeg would take at least 5 days. Neither trip is pleasant and my time is limited. Has anyone dealt with these issues and if so who did you use?

Regards,
Dave

Dave,

Drive down to Va Beach and pick up a set of hulls and mast from me. You can get those spreaders, too! Make a vacation out of it!! πŸ˜€

On the other hand, I have never shipped hulls, but I have shipped a few masts. I wrap them in cardboard, then use about a whole roll of tape to seal the mast. I have used a freight service (Old Dominion Freight). I have to drop the mast off at the terminal, then the buyer has to pick it up at the terminal at their location. It usually runs about $300-350.

You might be able to put an ad on www.UShip.com. I had my Supercat delivered from Texas that way. Very convenient.
