I have the old seaway blocks on my 16. Looking to upgrade to 6:1. Is harken still the favorite? Becket or no becket?

You certainly can’t go wrong with a set of Harkens. They are what you will find on 99% of Hobie 16’s racing.
Even a 30 year old used set of Harkens will be a huge improvement over the Seaways.
Don’t get a block with a becket - it will just increase the overall stack height of the blocks. When running 6:1 purchase, there is no need for a becket, you tie off to the deadeye mounted above the cleat on the lower block. If you want to run 7:1 (rare on a Hobie 16) mount your upper block on the aft boom bale and tie off the sheet to the forward bale.

Yes, I 2nd that opinion, Harken products have stood the test of time. I replaced my Seaways with Harken 6:1 and there is a significant difference, the Harken ratchet even sounds more substantial!!!
