My sailing multi club members are looking to rent a cottage on a different lake and go sailing. Can any sailor recommend a place to rent and go sailing? We are from Niagara and usually sail on lake Ontario.
Chautauqua Lake near Jamestown, NY. Southwestern most part of NY State.
I grew up there and have been back many times as we have family in the area.
26 Mile long lake with nice breezes and enough depth to take on daggerboard boats.
No big weed issue until late in the summer and then only along shorelines.
The west side of the lake has some nice cottages (I stayed at Irwin Bay Cottages) and they were an eclectic mix of cool simple cottages and a couple of nice homes with a large number of bedrooms. They also have a small boat launch that you can get your cat in at.
There is a state park across the lake as well - Prendergrast Park - I have never camped there, but the area is nice

Are you familiar with the Crystal Beach\Abino Point area? There is a cottage like accomadation at the Buffalo Canoe Club, and I am sure some other rental cottages as well. I have spent several summers up there sailing with my cousins and conditions were always good. A
