G cat 5.7 sails 1980-02

A Prindle 18 main sail is a dead match for the G-Cat 5.7 main. The jib is harder to match since the G-Cat jib goes past the bridle and tacks onto the forward crossbeam. You can use the Prindle 18 jib but you give up about 4 square feet of total sail area. (The Prindle jib will tack at the junction of the bridle wires)
I used the P-18 set-up on my 5.7 and it was faster than with the original G-Cat sails, due to the fact that the P-18 sails were built by Randy Smyth. Better cut, better cloth and better battens equals more power! I sold the boat with both sets of sails and the new owner also prefers the Smyth sails over the OE sails.

How much did you have to cut it down by ,would like a biger jib or sail

i sail with a 5.7 that uses a tornado main and full sized jib. the jib blocks have been moved back a foot and are attached via the tramp lacing.
