Thanks for the pics!

Looks like Randy Smyth and his SewSew custom tri has won Class 5 (Cat and Tri sailboats) in a time of
1 Days, 11 Hours, 18 Min.

Looks like a record to me, I don't see where anyone has done Class 5 in less than two days before.

Wanted to recognize the intrepid (crazy) folks who are doing the Everglades Challenge on a beachcat.

Bumpy, Tornado
(aka Jamie Livingston)
and
MachoMan
(aka Kenny Pierce)

COjones, Hobie 18 w/wings
(aka Fred Bickley)
and
Spicey
(aka Doug Corey)

PainenDias, Modified G-Cat
(aka Joe Slama)
and
Ozymandius
(aka Philip Slama)

Puma, Prindle 18-2
(aka Joseph Frohock)
and
SteersWithBeers
(aka Robert Wetmore)

SwampMonkee, Tornado w/wings
(aka Ron White)
and
Chainsaw
(aka Mike McGarry)

Hope I didn't miss anyone, way to go!

It looks like SwamMonkee has finished in 2 Days, 9 Hours, 55 Min

Bumpy is listed as DNF, I think they broke down right after the start, and the rest of them are still out there

Good luck, you've got till March 8th to finish.

Aren't there sections of the course that require dropping the mast and carrying/dragging your vessel?

there were
not this year - i think they made an effort to make the race more doable for larger boats (larger than kayaks)

There still are checkpoints that are very hard to get to and require high tides to access. Someone wrote up a story that they tried to sail to checkpoint 2 for hours, gave up, tried to anchor and sleep, gave up and eventually walked their trimaran 1.5 miles.
