Hello, my name is Beto Pandiani, I am from Brazil. I do extreme expeditions in a small cats. I did six long trips, in resume Antartica to Greenland, Chile to Australia, always in a beach cats. Now in next march we will cross from Capetown to Ilhabela ( Brazil) in a 24 cat, full carbon. Thank you very much.

Sounds like these crazy guys have moved to a little larger cat.

These are the ones that sailed their 21 foot winged carbon beachcat across the Drake channel from Cape Horn 500 miles to Antarctica.

They also sailed up the East coast from Chile to Iceland.

I think it might be life or death to turtle. I was in Santiago, (Chile) a couple of years ago. We rented a car & drove out to the coast at Valparaiso, then up to Vena del Mar & Con Con. I thought of renting a Hobie, but the water was freezing, only a couple of kids surfing, in full wetsuits.
Apparently there is an up-welling current along much of the Chilean coast that keeps the water pretty chilly.
