I was watching Caddyshack the other day and noticed several Hobie Cats in the yacht club scenes. What movies, tv shows or commercials have beachcats been spotted in?

Jaws 2 had several different cats in it. We lived in Destin Florida on Gulf Shore Drive when they filmed some of the scenes for that movie.

It was hardly a beachcat, but the catamaran in Waterworld was mostly real.
Randy Smyth sailed the cat from inside the covered cockpit while they were filming Costner standing atop the mast.

I believe Randy Smythe sailed the catamaran in the Thomas Crown affair as well, another great sailing scene, although Formula 40's aren't really beachcats

The movie Wind has a catamaran racing scene although most of the movie is about 12 meter boats

Tom Criuise has his little beach affair next to a Hobie in the movie The Firm

Prudential has the commercial with cats sailing amongst whales

Sandals resorts has some Hobie waves in their ads

Tropicana commercials had cats in them. When people ask me what boat I have, I mention that. This used to work a decade or two ago, but now just dates me.

I was watching a series on Amazon called Superships and one episode was about this huge dredging vessel and there was a scene showing how a beach in Miami was created by land reclamation. The scene showed the beach in later years and there were a few Hobie 14s and 16s lining the beach. It reminded me of how it used to be at the beach, there would always be lines of Hobies for rent.
