I'm looking for a simple seat or backrest for the lazy days, ideally something portable, to leave it on the beach for more serious sailing. I'm not interested in adding wings yet, the simpler the better.
Anyone has tried something?

We use a couple of the West Marine foldable seats. They'll fold flat on the trampoline when not being used and make a nice comfortable seat when the wind is light. I've seen them on sale for $40 and have had mine three years.

Cool thanks. Just take it on an use it? no need to attach it somehow? When in use I mean, when stored on the tramp I would use a lanyard or something to keep it there.

We never attached them to anything while we were sitting on them. As long as you're not tacking back and forth all day it's really not a big deal. When we weren't using them we'd slide them under the hiking straps and put a bungee on them.
The larger model of these has non skid on the bottom which does help but they're not foldable to store out of the way.

I used Crazy Creek foldable chairs on Flight Risk for years. Very comfortable for sitting on the hull with legs extended over the tramp9 (our regular seating position). Everyone was required to remember to bring them with on each tack, and if you forgot they tended to blow overboard. Which made for excellent MOB practice, as they float just fine. A lanyard could be hooked to the pfd to alleviate this problem, and would also allow them to be positively secured under the hiking strap when not needed.

Lot of knock offs available for less money that also work fine.
