AC 45 PitchPoles in SF Bay

They have just moved a couple of the AC45's to San Francisco Bay. Here is the vido of the pitch-pole and righting of a 45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1MOsI1BfbM . Hope this isn't too far off topic .

He sure did. I didn't catch that the first time.
That was the skipper, he is soooooo lucky he didn't hit a control wire on that wing... from 40' it could have taken off a limb or head

what kind of material is the wing sail made of? looks really thin...the way it looks, you could keep on sailing, like each section is independant...like a shot up b-17 wing limping back to england. can't wait for the technology to get cheap enough for beachcats.

Those wings are made of unobtainium, very expensive fall.... they are lucky he didn't break the mast in 2 as has happened in other AC45 (and x40's, and C class cats) this spring and winter. however these guys are the ULTIMATE PIMP FLOSSING SAILORS and have deeper pockets than your favorite sports league and mine combined. So they have spare wings in their glove boxes π
