We have seen a fair number of new people on here from my area and it might help bring more. I am in Northern Utah so I don't know if it should be specific to that or not.
Great Salt Lake (South Marina or Antelope Island)
Utah Lake
Deer Creek
Pineview Res
Willard Bay
Bear Lake
RockPort
Yuba ( A little more central than north but still a good spot)
I am sure their are many more.
