I just saw a video about Skyway Beach and in it there were a couple of vehicles with trailers, presumably for jet skis, but I'm not sure. From the nautical map, it looks like the East side is a jet ski beach and the West side is a "paddle craft" beach. It looks like it's maybe an hour and a half sail from there to Egmont Key...
Has anybody ever launched there or know someone who did?
I've also wondered the same thing. When driving by, I've noticed there are no beachcats at what looks like good launching areas. Does this reflect the overall decline in beachcat sailing or are there other factors that make this place not desirable? I guess you'll have to just go down there and see for yourself. It might be rocky but it couldn't be any worse than where I launch, I just anchor and my boat never actually touches the beach.
