Who will be there? This is my favorite event of the year and I'm hoping everyone will make it a point of getting there after all the oil problems in other locations this summer.

Who's In?

You should beat the crap out of the cruising cats that normally show up. For those that haven't been to the Juana Good Time Regatta, the big cat cruisers traditionally start their race with the skippers at the bar, bell rings, everyone does a shot, then the skippers run (slowly) to their waiting boats.

The big boats usually start a 1/2 hour or so before the beachcats and make for great obstructions down the race course. πŸ˜†

Absolutely, very friendly laid back atmosphere.

As Yoda would say "the social, it is strong in this one".

For more pictures than you will have time to look at from past years.

Like I said before:
"You should beat the crap out of the cruising cats that normally show up."

However, if you can sail your 36 to that 69.1 number I'll buy you a discounted Corona! I don't see a barbeque grill hanging from your stern, but big boats tend to collect things.

Also at Juana's all big boats are required to carry at least 3 competitors for the prestigious "Best Breast" perpetual trophy, and crew like that distracts from competitive sailing.

More than likely, they will probably run the Macgregor 36 with the beachcats. They had always put Bruce (Stiletto 23) with the beachcats in past years. Different RC this year so he might end up with the cruisers, which would be the proper place for him. I don't think the cruisers (Gemini's) will want him with them, and since a cruiser is the host, well, we'll see . . .
The Stiletto was always causing wrecks during the Sunday buoy races.

Really thinking about going. Couple questions...

Where is a good place to stay?

I dont have CatTrax is that a problem with unloading?

Can we keep the boats on the beach mast up for the weekend?

Most people do use beach wheels to get onto the beach, but there is also a public ramp. I've done it both ways. There will be plenty of people to borrow wheels from.

Can we keep the boats on the beach mast up for the weekend?

Yes!

Well, I got to confess...since Judy and I got the P19 with the 4-way jib control tramp space has gotten
crowded. So we have an inflatable mattress now...self inflating of course πŸ˜‰

I will be coming with my older son, our first regatta. Hotel, tent or boat for sleeping? Is there camping available around? Do most stay in a hotel?

Thanks.

The brothers from Ohio will be there. My son is also coming with us and bringing his Hobie 16, we are stacking 2 of the boats, i hope that works out ok. That will make 3 boats in the TepeRacing stable.... kinda intimidating. I look forward to seeing everyone from last year as well as meeting new friends!

Why just spectate? There will probably be other Getaways and also some rental Waves that you can kick around. 😎

but if you do decide not to race you can still score free and discounted beer, as well as dinner and a t-shirt by registering as a non-racer for $35.
